The Challenge
This Hartlepool-based global brake pad manufacturer was struggling to meet demand with a mixture of old,
inefficient and unreliable air compressors and air dryers. The system was failing on a regular basis, costing the
company money on repairs and lost production.
In 2020, following a comprehensive site meeting to discuss the client’s requirements, CAPS won the contract
to install a new system to provide compressed air to the plant efficiently and reliably, with additional capacity
built in to allow for uninterrupted service, in the unlikely event of breakdowns or scheduled service work. The Solution
CAPS proposed the installation of four new air compressors, two new air dryers and some modifications to
the existing compressed air distribution pipework.
The highly efficient ELGi air compressors and air dryers, carry a manufacturer’s warranty of 10 years and have
eliminated the regular breakdowns and high repair costs for CAPS customer. The ELGi VSD air compressors
and the new Teseo HBS110mm distribution pipework headers have also all contributed to improving the
compressed air efficiency at the plant, and further reducing the associated energy costs.
The site engineers and production teams can now have total confidence that the air system will not affect
production as the new system has 100% duty/standby, whilst the maintenance team benefits from a five-year
service plan covering all associated service work on the air compressed air system.
In addition to supplying the new equipment, CAPS also carried out a turnkey installation and project
management from start to finish.More Case Studies
